DJ Vanderwerf is just a normal 15-year-old kid with one prosthetic leg. DJ was born with a birth defect
and had to amputate part of his left leg when he was only nine months
old.
He has played football for five years
and has plans to keep playing. Vanderwerf certainly has big football
dreams. As a freshman quarterback, Vanderwerf is already the starter
for the Sweetwater Wildcats JV team. He wears number 14, but his role
model and source of inspiration wears number 15.
"Football has always been one of my
favorite sports. I wanted to play because around the same time I
started playing, my favorite player and hero Tim Tebow was the
starting quarterback at the University of Florida," said
Vanderwerf. See full story in the Wednesday, Oct. 17, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
