ROCKWOOD-It was tough night in Rockwood for the Bears as they took another loss 35-8. Heading to play the Tigers with high hopes and a week of good practice under their belts, the Bears were optimistic.

As game play started Rockwood elected to receive and put points on the board early in their first two possessions making it 14-0 quick in the first quarter.

Tellico had a good run on their second possession as Adam Reece worked his magic and dodged defenders for two runs resulting in consecutive first downs. Devon Collier pushed his way gaining positive yardage and putting the Bears in scoring position. Zack Strickland caught Dewayne Hollingshead's pass which had the Bears on the two yard line. But the Tiger Defense went to work and kept the Bears out of the end zone when they took over on downs after a tackle for a loss.

After the Bear offensive push to no avail they saw their senior leader Reece go down with an injury on their next series. Then soon after senior Robert Vandervort came out of the game with injury. These events took a little wind from the sails of the Plainsmen. Rockwood took advantage and scored making 21-0 Rockwood at the half.

Freshman Blake Hunt made a big play to open the second half for Tellico with an interception as Rockwood was looking to score at the Bear 25 yard line. The Bears pushed hard to gain momentum and looked to put it in the end zone. Garret Reno made a great block on Collier's run. Then another Bear block by Lucas Shephard allowed Strickland to gain 8 yards toward first down. But it wasn't enough and the Tigers got the ball back and capitalized on it adding points on the board making it 28-0.

Bears safety Austin Taylor had to come out with an injury after making a hard hit tackle. The Bears had three key seniors on the sidelines with injuries. But the Bears weren't finished and made an offensive run as Hollingshead connected with freshman receiver Ryan Bookout for a 13 yard pass. Bryce Carter blocked for Collier as he headed up field on a 10 yard run moving the ball closer to scoring position.

The offensive line including senior Center TJ Pike buckled down and allowed Hollingshead time to throw to Bookout again for a 32 yard pass and Reno for a 15 yard pass. Collier ran again for a combined 28 yards on two plays after good offensive blocks by Deon Massengale and Ryan Davis. Hollingshead connects on another pass to Collier as he skipped past two defenders into the end zone.

The Bears went for a two point conversion as freshman Jacob Wiseman found his way the to the goal line. The Bears put eight on the scoreboard late in the 4th quarter. Rockwood took the win 35-8 over the Bears. Next week the Bears travel again to Meigs County to face another Tiger team.
