SEQUOYAH-The Sequoyah Chiefs were down
14-0 early to the Scott County Highlanders, but found an answer in
Blake Huffman, as he outscored the Highlanders 35-6 from that point
and won 35-20.
Hunter Henry scored on the opening
drive for the Highlanders and led 7-0. After an Austin Stephens
interception, Scott County scored on a second Henry rush and led 14-0
in the first quarter. Justin King added an interception as well to
fuel the frustrations for the Chiefs in the first.
Things started to look up though in the
second. Huffman scored from a yard out for his first of five
touchdowns to make the score 14-6. An inadvertent whistle along with
Huffman's play, changed this game. A poor call by the ref's
negated a Henry score that would've given Scott County a two-score
lead before the half. Because of the blown call, they replayed the
down. Dustin Webb had a sack and forced fumble on the next play, the
Reuben Abernathy recovered. The Chiefs marched down for a
Huffman score and Brett King added the 2-point conversion to tie the
game 14-14 at the half.
In the Third quarter, it was all
Sequoyah. Austin Lunsford hauled in a 60-yard pass and Huffman pushed

scoring to make the game 28-14.
Jon Hamblin scored after Jake
Phillips stripped King at mid field to make it 28-20. Chiefs had a slim lead
heading to the fourth.
Thomas Spradlin recoverd a fumble, and
Huffman sealed the deal with his fifth score, 35-20. Forrest McKane
had a huge sack to preserve the win. C
aleb Minor, Ben Hall, Robbie
Brummett and Luke Knott all had huge hits and tackles. Lunsford eded
the contest with his second interception of the night.
