LOUDON-Sweetwater didn't have much time to think about last week's close loss before they were faced with another exciting affair. In almost the same situation, the Wildcats found themselves with the ball late in the fourth quarter needing a score. Unfortunately, the outcome was all to familiar. Loudon handed Sweetwater its second loss in as many weeks with a nail biter at home, 8-7.

It looked as though the Wildcats were going to run away with the game early. In the first three minutes of the game, they had pushed the ball 60 yards and on fourth down scored on an Andrew Barr to Hunter Humphreys pass play. Garrett Zickgraf nailed the extra point and the Wildcats led early, 7-0.

Sweetwater wouldn't get back into the red zone all night as the Loudon defense limited Jordan McGaughey and the Wildcat running attack to just 21 yards. Eli Arwood led the team in rushing and also had a sack.

The passing game was stifled as well. Barr connected on eight of 20 for 87 yards, two interceptions and one score. The Redskins didn't do much in the first half. Loudon scored on Jacob Mourfield's 28-yard touchdown run. An offsides penalty moved the Redskins closer to the goal line and they converted on a 2-point conversion when Trent Elliot crossed the plain.

The second half was really the difference. Elliot threw an interception to Nick Wicker in the third but that was the only big play the Wildcats made.

Loudon rushed for 220 yards in the second half keeping a tired Wildcat defense on the field, and thus ending any hopes on Wildcat momentum. Sweetwater fought hard until the end though, and will look to win at home next week in a 5-AA matchup with Meigs County.
