No tax hike for county residents

MADISONVILLE-It took them a couple of months past the deadline, but the Monroe County Commission passed a budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year during a brief meeting Thursday morning.

The property tax rate stayed the same, $1.95 per $100 of assessed taxable property, as the county expects to bring in $17,907,066.78 in revenue. Numbers provided by the county show property in Monroe County has an assessed value of $1,020,345,686.

The county is expecting to spend $17,618.389 in general funds.
