Stolen Army property discovered

A Tellico Plains man with a damaged license plate was found to have a stolen item from an army base after being pulled over Monday afternoon.

Vonore Police Officer Eric Watson said he stopped Anthony W. Phillips, 44, Stuart Wilson Road, after spotting the damaged plate on his truck.

Watson said he ran a check on Phillips and found he had been arrested for driving on a suspended license five previous times. Phillips told Watson he'd lost his license after being in a wreck and not having insurance.
