TELLICO PLAINS- On Friday night the
Tellico Bears took the field hoping to get their first win of the
season as they took on the Yellow Jackets from Coalfield. The Bears
won the toss and deferred to the second half.
On the first play of the game things
were looking up for the Bears as Garrett Reno sacked Coalfield
quarterback Ryan Hill for a safety, 2-0 Bears early in the first
quarter. Coalfield on the very next drive had a long touchdown pass
called back by a illegal block in the back.
On the next play a Coalfield fumble was
recovered by Dakota Rinehart. Things now are really looking
positive for the Bears, but that didn't last long as Coalfield's
Caanan Brock returned a Tellico fumble for a Touchdown to make it 7-2
Coalfield.
On the very next drive Tellico marched
down the field on a drive which was capped of by a touchdown run by
Zach Strickland to make it 9-7 Tellico.
At the end of the first quarter the
Bears were hanging tough as they were only down 14-9. The second
quarter is when Coalfield started to pull away from the Bears.
Coalfield scored four moretimes to make it 40-9 at the half.
The second half was about the same as
Coalfield scored twice and went on to defeat the Bears 53-9.
Coalfield's running back Addison Bible led the Yellow Jackets with
three touchdowns, including a punt return for a score.
The Bears will look
to get their first win next week as they host district foe Harriman.
