In an effort to better facilitate communication between the Monroe County schools and county residents, Director of Schools Mike Lowry announced Tuesday that Ashley Green will assume additional duties as communication facilitator for the county school system.

"It's almost like being a teacher, and striving to be a better teacher every year," said Lowry. "As director of schools, you want to do something to better the school system every single year."

Lowry believes having Green as communication facilitator will increase the timeliness of getting information out to the public and shine more light on the positive things in the school system.

"It's usually the director that is left with getting out information," said Lowry. "The down side is that I often get so busy that I can't get to it. And, we need to get the good things in our schools out."
