For the second time in less than a
month, the Sweetwater City School System has lost a popular teacher,
this time with the death of John McCallie on Sunday.
McCallie, 58, taught at Brown School
for more than 30 years.
McCallie's death came as the Sweetwater
City School System was celebrating great achievement success, being
named as one of 21 "Exemplary" school systems in the state.
"We are so sad about John," Director of Schools Dr. Melanie Miller said. "The Sweetwater City
School System family and our community will greatly miss him. If you
ever spent more than a few minutes talking to him, you would hear
about a student he had taught." See full story in the Wednesday, August 1, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
