Monroe County's Coordinated School
Health and Family Resource Center will hold a Back to School Bash at
Madisonville Intermediate School on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 4 to 6:30
p.m.
"This is a sense of community," said Lacey Mason, director of the Family Resource Center. "We're
all working together for the kids in our county. We want them to know
that people care about them and that they have people to call on when
they need them."
Several churches and organizations have
donated supplies that will be given out at the event, including
crayons, markers, glue sticks, folders, binders, paper and pencils.
Monroe County Coordinated School Health will also give out free
T-shirts while supplies last.
"A lot of children depend on these
events to get supplies," said Mason. "It's a huge boost in their
self-esteem and confidence if they have new school supplies."
Students will be able to walk around to
the variety of booths, who each will have a specific school supply.
Another booth will assist parents in filling out the school health
service packet. See full story in the Sunday, July 29, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
