MADISONVILLE-The late Frankie Watson
would be proud of his alma mater.
Sequoyah High School and Monroe County
school officials dedicated the Warriors' Path memorial on Thursday
afternoon, with Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Lowell Russell, who is
still recovering from a nearly fatal accident in March, on hand to
help celebrate.
"I am very excited," said Russell,
just minutes before the dedication ceremony. "I am for anything we
can do to honor our men and women in uniform."
Warriors' Path is a monument pathway
named for all former, present and future students of Sequoyah High
School who have served, are serving or will serve in the armed
forces.
"We wanted to do some kind of
recognition of past, current, and future veterans," said Monroe
County Director of Schools Mike Lowry. "It's a great opportunity to
recognize all veterans and the contributions that they have made and
will make, and to thank them for what they've done for our
community." See full story in the Sunday, July 29, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
