MADISONVILLE-A Madisonville man and passenger were arrested Sunday evening after they wrecked their car and ran, later allegedly claiming the car had been stolen.

Monroe County Sheriff's Sgt. Ray Haynes said the wreck happened around 6:11 p.m. on Ball Play Road near Povo Road and involved two vehicles and injuries.

Haynes said when he arrived on the scene he was told the people in one of the cars had fled on foot. Haynes said he learned one of the men was named Derek Russell and he and his passenger were at a house on Hartland Drive.

Russell had reportedly hit a car driving by his brother, Shane Tyler Garren, sending him to the hospital.
