An offensive lapse in the third period cost the Sequoyah Lady Chiefs dearly as they dropped a 55-45 non-district decision on the road at Lenoir City Monday night.
Sequoyah scored just six points in the frame and the Class 3A Lady Panthers raised their one-point halftime advantage to seven points.
The Lady Chiefs scoring woes continued into the final frame as they went more than three minutes without a point. Lenoir City used that time to execute a 12-2 run.
Sequoyah then outscored the Lady Panthers 9-2 through the remainder of the contest but that effort was too little and too late.
