Charles Hubert Millsaps passed away to his heavenly home Friday, Sept. 13 in Smyrna, Ga. with his family by his side. Hubert lived over 80 years in the Lakeside Community of Monroe County. He was an Army veteran of WWII, having served in Germany. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. of America after 35 years of service. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. In 2005, he and Edith moved to Delmar Gardens Retirement Village, Smyrna, Ga., to be near their son and grandchildren. Hubert was a former deacon and member of Vonore Baptist Church, Vonore, for more than 80 years.
He was 93.
Preceded in death by: parents, Grover C. and Dinah Stratton Millsaps and brother, Clarence Millsaps.
Survivors: wife of 67 years, Edith Presley Millsaps of Smyrna, Ga.;
Son, Ken Millsaps and wife Sandra of Marietta, Ga.;
Grandchildren, Patrick Millsaps and wife, Elizabeth of Albany, Ga.; Alison Morris and husband Sean of Powder Springs, Ga.;
Great-grandchildren, Morgan Alison, and Kendall Millsaps, Mills, Truett, and Stanton Morris;
Sister-in-law, Mrs. Clarence (Janie) Millsaps of Vonore;
Several Nieces and nephews.
Going home celebration service 3 p.m. Sunday at Biereley-Hale Chapel, with Rev. Robert D. Moore officiating. Interment in Haven Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors. The active deacon board of Vonore Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
