Jimmie Brookshire of Knoxville, passed away
peacefully on April 20 in Nashville. Originally from Vonore, Jimmie, —or simply
“GrandDaddy” as he loved to be called—was a kind and quiet man, who enjoyed spending time
with his family, his beloved cats, and most especially his precious grandson, Matthew. He
was a Korean War veteran and a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. He worked many
decades in the home building trade in the Knoxville area. He gave generously of his time as
a little league coach and mentor to others. Many still enjoy the fruits of his labors.
He was 81.
Preceded in death by: his
son, Darris Brookshire.
He is survived by his wife of more than 60
years-Ruby McCarter Brookshire;
Daughter-Connie Brookshire and husband Devin
Wells of Nashville;
Son-Randy Brookshire, son Danny and wife,
Jaynie Brookshire, and the light of his life, grandson Matthew Brookshire Wells;
Sisters and spouses-Nancy
and husband, George Murr of Vonore; Etta and husband, John Dailey of Atlanta;
Brother-Glen and wife, Ann
Brookshire of Michigan;
Sister-Pat and husband, Tom McLemore, of
Ocean Springs, Miss.; and
Many nieces and nephews.

37950. A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at Lakeside Baptist Church 194
