James Rex Clendenen

James Rex Clendenen of Sweetwater, passed away on Saturday morning, Feb. 2, at the family home.  He was a member of Union McMinn Baptist Church of Niota. He was a long-standing member of the Meridian Sun Masonic Lodge #50.

He was 69.

Preceded in death by: his parents, William Rex and Mae Lee Clendenen; son, Greg Clendenen; brother, Jefferson (Butch) Clendenen.

Survivors include: wife of 43 years-Janice F. Clendenen of Sweetwater;

Daughter and son-in-law-April D. and Carl Sledge of Madisonville;

Granddaughters-Holly Clendenen anf Caitlin L. and Jaden M. Sledge of Madisonville;

Sisters and brother-in-law-Johann  and Leon Rhea, Connie Morton, Brenda Patterson,  all of Maryville;

Brothers and sisters-in-law-Roy and Diane Clendenen of Maryville; Johnny and Abby Clendenen of Loudon;

Brother-in-law-Wayne Moore of Rockwood;

Step-mother-in-law-Mildred Moore of Knoxville;

Several nieces and nephews. 

Many thanks to Sweetwater Home Health and Amedisyis Hospice for their loving support and kindness.

The family received friends on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Kyker’s  Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, with a Masonic service in Kyker’s Chapel with the funeral service following with Rev. Bobby Pettit officiating.  Interment will be noon, Wednesday in the Sweetwater Memorial Park. Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, in charge of arrangements.
