Ray Stockton

Billy
Ray Stockton of Ten Mile, passed away on Monday, Jan. 21. He was a member of Ten Mile Baptist
Church. where he served as a deacon for many years. He served as the City of Sweetwater Police
Commissioner, worked at Carolyn
Chenille plant in Sweetwater for 32 years and retired from the Gemtron
Corporation in Sweetwater. He was
a 32nd degree Mason with the Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #292, the Eastern Star
#381 and the Shrine Temple, also a member of the Sweetwater Valley Lodge #282
Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was a veteran of World War II, having
served in the U.S. Army.
He was
77.
Preceded
in death by: his parents, Victor Lee Stockton and Jewell Hope Stockton
Cinnamon; son, Ritchie Lee Stockton.
Survivors
include: wife of 61 years-Betty Thomas Stockton of Ten Mile;
Sons and
daughters-in-law-Billy Wayne and Sue Stockton of Sweetwater; Ray and Carmon
Stockton of Windham, Conn.;
Daughter-Lucretia
Buchanan of Lexington, Ky.;
Five
grandchildren; and
Five
great-grandchildren;
Several
nieces and nephews.
The
family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 24, at Kyker Funeral Homes,
Sweetwater, from 6-8 p.m., with the funeral service to follow in Kyker’s Chapel
with Rev. Andrew Stockton and Rev. Jamie Lonas officiating. Family and friends will meet on Friday
at 12:45 p.m. at the Sweetwater Memorial Park for a 1 p.m. interment. Kyker
Funeral Home, Sweetwater, in charge of arrangements.
