Beecher G. Coleman of Tellico Plains, passed away at 9:45
a.m., Monday, Jan. 7, at Wood Presbyterian Home. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum
plant after 39 years. He was a
World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines, Japan and
Okinawa and was a life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
He was 87.
Preceded in death by: parents, Luther and Ellar Vee Coleman;
and brother, Kenneth Coleman.
Survivors include: wife of 62 years-Helen Coleman;
Son and daughter-in-law-James and Carolyn Coleman of Delano;
Grandson and spouse-Brian and Kim Coleman of Delano;
Granddaughter-Dawn Lowe of Tellico Plains;
Great-grandson-Caleb Coleman of Delano;
Sisters-in-law and brother-in-law-Bennie and Edward Brannon
of Tellico Plains; and Lois
Coleman of Florida;
Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, at Rural Vale
Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Walker officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military
honors provided by Sweetwater VFW Post 5156 and DAV Chapter 93. Family will receive friends from 6-8
p.m., Wednesday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Tellico Plains.
