Ben W. Atchley of Madisonville, passed
away at 3 p.m., Monday, Jan. 7, at home after a three-year battle with cancer. He was a well-known
businessman and civic leader. He was a charter member of the Monroe County Rescue Squad. His
greatest love besides his family, was coaching
youth sports for 40 years
including basketball, football and baseball. He
was a role
model for thousands of children. He was a member of First
Baptist Church
of Madisonville.
He was 78.
Preceded in death
by: parents, Jack and Flora Atchley; sister, Valarie Atchley Robertson; and brother, Joe
Atchley.
He leaves his wife of 57 years-Pat Atchley;
Sons-Donnie Atchley and Ronnie Atchley and wife Kim;
Daughter-Leesa Atchley Robbins and husband, Gary Robbins, all of
Madisonville;
Grandchildren-Cassie Robbins Thompson
and husband, Wes Thompson, Kevin Atchley and wife, Samantha, Derrick Atchley and wife, Tashina,
Savana Atchley and Jillian Atchley;
Great-grandchildren-Kaleigh,
Chloe, Abbie and Kinsley Atchley and Owen Thompson;
Step-great-grandchildren-Trent and Sissy Peak;
Special
niece-Jo Brock and husband, Ronnie;
Sisters-in-law-Trudy House and Agnes
Alley.
Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their loving care and
support.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Thursday, in
Biereley-Hale Chapel, with Dr. Lon Shoopman and Rev. Wayne Trentham officiating. Interment will be
1 p.m., Friday, in Haven Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by V.F.W. Post 5156
and D.A.V. Chapter 93. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., before the services.
