Cecil Novell Proffitt Jr.

Cecil Novell Proffitt Jr. expired at Select Specialty
Hospital at Fort Sanders at 12:44 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12. He was a resident of Vonore. He was a
graduate of Rockwood High School, class of 1964 and was a distinguished alumni
of Hiwassee College Class of 1966; and UT Agriculture in Knoxville, class of
1968. Proffitt taught school in Sparta, and was one of the founders of the
Little League program in Madisonville.
He was the owner of Greenback Country Meats until 1980 and Reality
Executives Tri-Star's until 2010. Cecil worked in banking, at Hicks Country
Meats; Sweetwater Stockyard, Elm Hill Meats, food sales and recently he was a
real estate broker. He served on the board for Habitat for Humanity and
supported the community in other programs. He joined the Rockwood Methodist Church as a youth and the
Woodmen of the World. He served in
the National Guard at Rockwood.
He was 66.

Proffitt Sr.; mother, Betty Jean Roberts Proffitt.
Survivors include: wife-Nancy;
Daughter-Sara and her husband, Michael Duncan of Sweetwater;
Son- Paul of Madisonville;
Sister-Susie and husband, Danny Jones;
Niece-Christy and husband, Andy White, all of Batesville, Miss.;
Nephew-Brian and wife, Theresa Jones of Memphis;
One other nephew and other nieces.
Funeral services were 8 p.m., Wednesday, in Biereley-Hale
Chapel, with Rev. Josh Benson officiating. Family and friends assembled at 2
p.m., Thursday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, for the interment.
