Eugene Taylor

Eugene "Gene" Taylor of Sweetwater, passed away on
Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the family home.
Mr. Taylor was a member of North Sweetwater Baptist Church, where he was
a former Sunday School teacher for
more than 12 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the
Korean War as a CPL; a lifetime member of the Sweetwater Gold Star VFW Post
5156; also a member of the Sweetwater American Legion Post, and a former member
of the Sweetwater OddFellows Lodge. He retired from Sweetwater Hospital, and
was a retired plumber and electrician.
Mr. Taylor was a diehard Atlanta Braves fan.
He was 84.
Preceded in death by: his parents, Christopher and Annie
Taylor; stepfather, Author Nix; sisters, Thelma Taylor and Ruth White; son-in-law,
Jim Thompson.
Survivors include: wife of 58 years-Lorene Taylor;
Daughter-Linda Gail Thompson, all of Sweetwater;
Daughter and son-in-law-Brenda Faye and Randy Skinner of Ten
Mile;
Son and daughter-in-law-Christopher E. and Mary Taylor of
Sweetwater;
Grandchildren-Nicky Thompson, Jamie Thompson, Ketia Kyle,
Aaron Skinner, Alissa Taylor, Cody Taylor and step-grandson, Mike Cain and
family;
Five great-grandchildren;
Several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 7, at Kyker
Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, from 2-4 p.m. Graveside service and interment will be 2 p.m., Monday
in the Sweetwater Memorial Park, with Rev. Don Rockholt and Rev. Mike Justice
officiating. Full military honors
will be provided by members of the Sweetwater VFW Post 5156 and the Monroe
County Disabled American Veterans #93.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to American Cancer
Society. Kyker Funeral Homes,
